Emily Rubinger (She/Her)
DBT Fellow
Emily is a master’s student in Mental Health Counseling at Brooklyn College. Previously, she worked as a writer and editor, producing content across technology, business, health, and wellness. Her reporting experience strengthened her ability to ask incisive questions, listen closely, and appreciate the complexity of each person’s experience and perspective.
Emily is committed to supporting individuals struggling with emotion regulation and to helping their loved ones respond with greater understanding and effectiveness. Her work volunteering with the Family Support Team at the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), along with her supervised clinical training at her college counseling center, deepened this commitment and shaped her approach to care.
Emily was drawn to Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for its structured, empirically supported framework. She values its practical, skills-based approach to helping people manage overwhelming emotions and build stronger, more effective relationships.
Outside the therapy room, she enjoys making pottery and patiently accompanying her dog Goldie on her mission to sniff every inch of Brooklyn.
