From insurance coverage to treatment options and appointment availability, we’re here to help you make informed decisions about your care.
We do not contract with insurance companies directly. However, the majority of our clients receive reimbursement for their sessions with us and we will provide you with statements that have all of the necessary information for reimbursement. In addition, some of our clients have been able to get approved for a “single-case agreement,” in which the therapist they are working with is considered “in-network” by their insurance provider. Clients are sometimes eligible for this when they are receiving specialized treatment at BPS, such as DBT, that is otherwise not available to them within-network. To find out about what benefits your insurance company offers, you can call them and ask about these commonly used CPT codes: 90791, 90834, 90849, 90853, 90846, and 90847.
Yes. We offer some limited sliding-scale slots. Each clinician has a limited number of spots on their schedule, so if a spot is unavailable when you begin therapy, you can ask to be notified when one opens up.
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. If you prefer to pay with a check, please have a credit card on file with us as well.
We will complete your initial intake assessment and, from that, determine what treatment we recommend. We do our best to accommodate schedule issues, logistical issues, and any personal conflicts so that you can receive the best treatment possible. If comprehensive DBT is not recommended or necessary, we can offer DBT-informed therapy, which is less comprehensive.
We strongly suggest you contact your insurance company prior to scheduling an intake with us to check about their reimbursement. Common CPT codes you can ask them about are: 90791, 90834, 90853, 90846, 90847, and 90849.
Some of our clinicians can offer weekend appointments. If you are interested in this, please let our Client Services Coordinator know when you are doing a phone screen.
We do not currently have a psychiatrist on staff at BPS, but we work closely with several, who specialize in children, teens and adults with mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. We are happy to provide referrals upon request, after our initial intake evaluation. Please contact our Client Services Coordinator if you are interested in learning more.
BPS requires 24 hours' notice of a cancellation or change to an appointment. Cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment will result in a charge for the full amount of the session.
BPS will give you a comprehensive invoice with the necessary information to submit to your insurance company, but we do not submit on behalf of our clients.
Your therapy process will begin with a brief phone screen by one of our Client Service Coordinators. You may also request to speak with our Executive Director and Founder, Dr. Stefanie Sugar, if you prefer. Following this phone call, we will match you with an appropriate therapist and schedule an initial intake evaluation. The intake will allow the therapist to thoroughly assess your needs and recommend an appropriate treatment plan. Together, you and the therapist will decide on the best course of treatment.
