Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Do you accept insurance?
We do not contract with insurance companies directly. However, the majority of our clients receive reimbursement for their sessions with us and we will provide you with statements that have all of the necessary information for reimbursement. In addition, some of our clients have been able to get approved for a “single-case agreement,” in which the therapist they are working with is considered “in-network” for their insurance provider. Clients are sometimes eligible for this when they are receiving specialized treatment at BPS, such as DBT, that is otherwise not available to them within-network. To find out about what benefits your insurance company offers you can call them and ask about these commonly used CPT codes: 90791, 90834, 90849, 90853, 90846 and 90847.
Do you offer sliding scale?
Yes. We offer some limited sliding scale slots. Each clinician has a limited number of sliding scale spots on their schedule, so if it is unavailable when you are beginning therapy, you can ask to be notified when a sliding scale spot opens up.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks and credit cards. If prefer to pay with a check, we ask that you have a credit card on file with us as well.
What if I don’t want comprehensive DBT but am interested in a version of it?
We will complete your initial intake assessment and from that, determine what we recommend for treatment. We do our best to accommodate schedule issues, logistical issues and any personal conflicts so that you can receive the best treatment possible. If comprehensive DBT is not recommended or necessary, we can offer DBT-informed therapy, which is less comprehensive.
How do I know if my insurance will reimburse me for these sessions?
We strongly suggest you contact your insurance company prior to schedule an intake with us to check about their reimbursement. Common CPT codes you can ask them about are: 90791, 90834, 90853, 90846, 90847 and 90849
Do you offer weekend appointments?
Some of our clinicians can offer weekend appointments. If you are interested in this, please let our Client Services Coordinator know when you are doing a phone screen.
Do you offer medication management?
We do not have a psychiatrist on staff at BPS, but we work closely with one who specializes in adults with mood, anxiety and personality disorders. She attends all of our team meetings and is able to provide coordinated care with our clinicians, as a result. Please contact our Client Services Coordinator if you are interested in learning more.
What is your cancellation policy?
BPS requires 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation or change to an appointment. Cancellation within 24 hours of the appointment will result in a charge for the full amount of the session.
Will BPS submit to my insurance for me?
BPS will give you a comprehensive invoice with the necessary information to submit to your insurance company, but we do not submit on behalf of our clients.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
Your therapy process will begin with a brief phone screen by one of our Client Service Coordinators. This information will be relayed to our Clinical Director who will match you with an appropriate therapist. The intake will allow the therapist to thoroughly assess your needs and recommend an appropriate treatment plan. Together, you and the therapist will decide on the best course of treatment.
