Hannah Yonamine (She/Her), DBT Fellow

Hannah Yonamine is a Master’s of Social Work student at Columbia University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development in Context and a second major in Psychology. She is eager to learn and grow as a clinician at BPS! Hannah previously interned at the African Services Committee, a non-profit organization in Harlem that assists immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. She collaborated with case managers, lawyers, and housing specialists to address the needs of clients living with a chronic health condition. While in undergrad, Hannah interned at Anixter Center in their community mental health program. She led group therapy and met with clients individually, all of whom were diagnosed with a serious mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disability. She has also volunteered at the Queen’s Medical Center’s partial hospitalization program for adolescents and adults, where she assisted in CBT and DBT-focused group therapy.
Hannah’s research interests include Asian and Asian American populations and the complex interplay between access to mental health resources, cultural stigma about mental illness, and attitudes toward help-seeking. She is passionate about making treatment accessible, approachable, and effective for people of all cultural backgrounds and histories.
When not working, Hannah is often singing (as she grew up doing musical theater), lifting weights, asking strangers if she can pet their dogs, and watching YouTube videos.
