Jessica Garcia, LMSW, received her master’s degree in social work at Columbia University where she participated in a specialized training program in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Jessica interned at Cognitive and Behavioral Consultants where she delivered CBT and comprehensive DBT to children and their families. Following graduation, Jessica specialized in trauma-focused interventions, working with children and families impacted by trauma at Safe Horizon and The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. In this work, Jessica supported parents in behavior modification and taught specialized parenting skills to improve the parent-child relationship. Jessica has a passion for supporting children, adolescents, adults and parents feeling stuck and dissatisfied with one or more aspects of their lives. Jessica recognizes that change can be very difficult and approaches it with compassion, validation, support, and encouragement to help her clients live their life worth living.
In her free time, Jessica can be found loving on her cats, binge-watching Netflix, and spending time with her nephew. Her side passion is Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and animal rescue, so you may find her walking around Brooklyn caring for the community cats.
