Stephanie Rothney, LMSW, takes a trauma-informed, relational, and compassionate approach to help clients explore their emotions and behaviors, identify patterns that may no longer serve them, and work towards goals to build a more fulfilling life. Stephanie values creating a validating environment that balances acceptance and change.
Stephanie earned her Master of Social Work from Columbia University, where she specialized in advanced clinical practice. She previously completed Columbia University’s post-baccalaureate program in psychology and holds a bachelor’s degree in business with a minor in psychology from Wake Forest University.
Stephanie has training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), trauma-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and suicide risk assessment. Before joining Behavioral Psych Studio, she interned at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell’s Victim Intervention Program, where she provided inpatient support and outpatient therapy to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Stephanie also interned at the Child Mind Institute, working with children with selective mutism, ADHD, and related behavioral challenges.
Stephanie has significant experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating trauma, anxiety, behavioral and relationship challenges, and life transitions. She is passionate about helping clients build lives that reflect their values and aspirations.
In her free time, Stephanie enjoys watching stand-up comedy and magic shows, playing pickleball with her partner, and visiting her home country of Canada.
